i know this is an old post but would be interested in what trading standards have to say as, unfortunately i signed up with theselect under 24hrs ago and am appauled with there selection, pricing and lastly their profit margins total nonsence.
i emailed them stating that i wish to cancel all dealings with them less than 12hours after signing up, funny they apparently already booked confrence / training day, paid for hosting and domain name (which i actually own already), business managers among many other things all within the space of around 3hrs today.
i am myself looking to seek leagal advice on the matter as well as speak to trading standards myself over the coming few days.

warning stear VERY clear of this company.

i joined the select own websites package two month's ago but i found that it is difficult to make any sales on their products. i have not make a single sales inspite of promoting websites for past two months. They promised to add more products to their website but have not done so. i would be interested in joining the group to complain to trading standard

i feel relly gutted that i have come across this forum a few dys after joing the platinum package on select. I have been questioning them about stock levels and prices, they just didnt make sense and now i see i wasnt the only one thinking it, its such a blow to my confidence I looked really hard for a good dropshipper and the one i chose turned out to be pretty much scam

Has anyone got anywhere with trading standards or getting their refund?

If you paid by credit card to join you can probably cancel the payment and report them this way. Trading Standards may help but usually want lots of complaints before doing anything.

Using dropshipping as a business model is fraught with problems, not least of which is you have no control over the shipping process. A large part of marketing can take place inside of the package you send to a customer. Flyers for example and personal letters can help build a relationship with customers and get them to return to your website again and again.
The whole system seems too good to be true and it usually is. A drop shipper that demands you buy a quantity of items before you qualify for a cheaper price is a joke. The whole point of dropshipping is that you have access to single items at a good price.
I tried dropshipping years ago when I first started trading and ended my relationship with the drop shipper withing 5 weeks when I discovered they only ordered stock when you placed an order. If you can find a genuine dropshipper,; if you can find one, then mixing a few products on your website alongside your other inventory may be a good stratergy. To try to build a business on an auction site like ebay or amazon, where feedback is available could bring disaster down on your head.
