Firstly when you signup you have the option to purchase a domain name, presumably though an affiliate link on which they earn a commission.
They also offer various upsell services such as custom template designs & other services which range between $25 to $1895. It's a lot easier to sell these to people once they've had a free trail of your services.

They also make money off of the optional shipping insurance. They have a bulk deal with the carriers.
