Hi Studio47, Welcome to AuctionCUT.

For Sellers its simple:

Online auctions such as eBay offer the most exposure for your item, making sure the biggest relevant audience sees your item, which in turn makes sure you get the best price for your item.

It's also very easy and hassle free to list your item and only takes a few minutes.

For Buyers, It has it's advantages to:

You don't have to leave the comfort of your home or office to bid, it's easy to find exactly what your looking for and in most cases you are able to see a detailed description and image(s) before your obliged to bid.

It's not that there's anything wrong with other outlets or formats, Ebays not perfect by any means, but on the whole it offers these advantages allowing it to grow into the giant it is today.

Thanks for your reply. I wonder if we want the giant, does that not stifle competition? Anyhow I found a site that has some great features and costs less than Ebay and it opened yesterday. The thing is it's not an auction site so perhaps that means it's doomed.

Whats the site? And are you connected with it?

No offence intented, but most people who "find sites" on forums, are the owners & are just after some publicity.

And if it's not an auction site - what type of site is it. I guess you can not post live links till you've made another post, but can I send you a pm?

Lol, no offence taken, that's why i didn't mention the name as i guess most people would think that.
I'm not connected but I have put stuff on there now. People may or may not want to try it out. It's that "better the Devil you know" thing and also the auction format that no one seems to want to break from. So I thought I'd ask a few people why that was.

Seems a pretty unique site, but still needs some work. The links on the left aren't working (at least in firefox) . We'll watch with interest and see how it develops. Let us know how you get on with your sales as well.

For me, online auctions are fun and exciting. Seeing how much you'll get from for your auction sales and watching last minute bids arive.

Had a look at the bootfare.net site.
ebay need have no fear.
Needs to be up front with the cost of 'pitching'
I don't want to leave all my details somewhere, to find out I don't like the charges.
As for the format, you can do the same on ebay. You just look for buy it now prices.

For me online auctions offer the easiest way to market a product to buying base that would take years to compile on your own..
