Hello everyone, I'm new to eBay and I placed my first auction there. My first question is, what is a watcher? And what is their 'purpose?' Thanks.

A watcher is another ebay member who has saved a shortcut to your auction within "My eBay".

Generally, the more watchers you have - the more members you have interested in your auction. Hopefully some will return to your auction, and place a bid before it's over.

If you get enough watchers on your auction, you'll end up on eBay pulse which get massive exposure for your item.

It depends enormously.

I've known auctions with 100+ watchers which have only ended with 2 bids.

On the other hand, I've had auctions with only 1 or 2 watchers which has attracted over 30 bids. It's one aspect of eBay that no one can predict.

Welcome to the forum, by the way

Mark
