| Hello everyone, I'm new to eBay and I placed my first auction there. My first question is, what is a watcher? And what is their 'purpose?' Thanks. |

A watcher is another ebay member who has saved a shortcut to your auction within "My eBay".
Generally, the more watchers you have - the more members you have interested in your auction. Hopefully some will return to your auction, and place a bid before it's over.
If you get enough watchers on your auction, you'll end up on eBay pulse which get massive exposure for your item. |

It depends enormously.
I've known auctions with 100+ watchers which have only ended with 2 bids.
On the other hand, I've had auctions with only 1 or 2 watchers which has attracted over 30 bids. It's one aspect of eBay that no one can predict.
