One of the things that eventually turned me away from eBay is the absolute marketplace saturation level. When I first started out, I could get a fair price for an item. In the end, there were sellers who clearly had no intention of making any money, did not consider their own costs, and simply desired to be eBay "sellers". Poor business people, with no vision towards any real bottom line. They moved in, in many categories, and destroyed the marketplace.
Case in point: China. I sold quite a bit of china on eBay. High end tea cups and saucers, and they would fetch a fair price. Next thing you know, there were sellers letting them go for a buck, using the pic pack, and undercutting the shipping price.
I figured there could only be one reason for this, and clearly, these people weren't interested in making any real money. That is about when I gave up on eBay.
