If you aren't already an eBaY seller than you might want to consider these tips for immediate results.

• Choose a seller's I.D. that is simple but none threatning. I wouldn't suggest 'Race543' because it is too hard to want to recall! O.k. And you can always change the I.D. in 30 days!

• Go ahead and create an AboutMe page even if you aren't really polished up on the content. Seldom do buyers really look there, but the ME icon is very reassuring in the auction's page.

• Make use of the hit counter in the auctions so you can watch people's movements. This will give feedback about your auction's traffic patterns.

• Try making-up your auctions' headlines using a hot button first (grabber) and with a hot button last (benefit). eg. Good Cigars w/ Free Shipping
That's starting with the 'grabber' called Good in this example, and finishing with a 'benefit' called Free Shipping.

• Take alot of pictures of the goods you are selling but don't worry about perfection. And try to keep your descriptions short and to the point. Don't worry about offering all the details about your methods of billing and shipping. eBaYer's typically pay with PayPal and don't really say much about service unless their is a problem. Don't wait! and ship those articles out fast!

• Sell a few auctions for break-even, so you can relax without having seller's stress! But your should always try to sell merchandise that is above three dollars and closer to $9.99. Why? If your auction closes too low than you are beat by the seller's fees. Conversely, don't put your article's opening price into the next fee range. $10.+ will cost you more in fees, so lower the price into the next lower range of fees. You can add a small amount to the s/h to recover your difference. And do this for most of your opening bid ranges. Alright.

• When you send merchandise to a customer, they should recieve your seller's I.D.. in the box /mailer.

• Relax and do what is right!

These are some of the basics for getting immediate results as a startup eBaY entreprenuer. I have additional information that will get things going even faster. I need to recover my notes in the morning. Hopefully, if I can find them at all.

Any questions?

Thanks.

Hello About Me, welcome to the Auction Cut community.

You have certainly shared plenty of information here. How well has this knowledge worked for you? How are your sales at eBay?

Hi Jim,

I believe that what I submitted on this forum:

1. startup, 2. boost 3. advanced 4. extreme

Are more of a perception selling approach
than actually an attempt to manipulate Ebay.
Alright.

Funny, I had the good fortune to co-create a
program called 'It' with a seller in Mi.. Regrettably, |
we did not follow are guts about making it a reality!

8 Months later the idea became a major hit
for Ebay.

I have helped big sellers' improve their
performances on Ebay successfully. I would
send an email to big sellers telling them
that I would improve their game. It was
hard play, and that's why I know a little
about Ebay marketing. O.k.

Ebay forbids emails to others now!

AboutMe: If you took all my sales and combined
them into one month than I would say
that you worked hard and made some
money.

I will be ramping up sales in the next
month and I invite AuctionCUT members
to watch me win or loose! lol

Don't forget to see my custom pages
for some interesting articles about
selling on Ebay!

Hope this helps.

Thanks.

Dave

I love the idea of selling items at break-even prices. You may not realize a profit right off the bat, but you will gain credibility and a good feedback score. No one wants to buy from someone with a low feedback score, so it makes since to sell lots of inexpensive items at little-to-no profit margin just to raise your feedback score. Then, you can start selling your high profit items.

A great way to find niche markets and hot products to sell is by selling stuff from around your home.

There are two excellent reasons for starting out in this way:

(1) Feedback is hugely important for any eBay seller. With a feedback rating below 10, it is going to be difficult to get people to take you seriously. The first 100 sales are the hardest as buyers look for high feedback as reassurance that they can trust the seller. Generally, the higher your feedback, the better - with powerseller status being the ultimate goal.

(2) You get to sell a range of products and see what works well. The results may surprise you!

Nothing beats knowledge gained from experience and selling stuff from around the home is the best way to get it without any risk. After some practice with goods from around the home, I recommend buying small wholesale lots of products that most people use on a daily basis.

Many of these products are excellent sellers, plus they are fairly easy to get hold of. A lot of new sellers make the mistake of trying to be all things to all people. In fact, it is far better to target a specific market, e.g. ‘back to school’.

Cheers! :)

That's a great tip because when you sell items from around your home, you are therefore selling items that you've acquired or purchased for yourself. This means that you are selling products that you like, and these products are probably something you know a little about. You may even be passionate about these products. Passion and knowledge are important when selling in a niche market.

Selling things from around your home is a good way to start (especially for beginners). Since very little capital is required therefore your losses are also set at minimum in case things don't turn out right.

Knowing what you are selling is very important - how else will you market a product unless you know it by heart or at least are familiar with it. Its often easier and a lot more fun to sell things you are passionate about.

All the best :)

Well i agree.. Selling products near to your area can be beneficial because it save the money of shipment plus figuring out mishaps like delay is shipping or any damage occurred during shipment is not very complicated!

That's right ed!

Some of our members who have been selling online for the longest time do recommend checking out your local wholesale clubs like Sam's, Cosco's and even WalMart - these store often have greats deals which are well below wholesale its just a matter of timing :)

Cheers!
