Having won an item a fortnight ago and no sign of it in post, I emailed Seller and was told that, although I paid via Paypal the Seller hasn't been successful in claiming the payment. The payment has gone out of my bank account and on the Feedback/payment section of the transaction on My Ebay there's an hourglass saying Pending. I've been in negotiation with the Seller but all he's suggested is that I send a cheque, but of course, as things stand now, this would mean paying twice. It looks to me very much like stalemate. Should I write this transaction off rather than spend time, energy and patience pursuing it - it's a relatively small amount, £23.00 in all, but maybe it's a case of principle more than anything?

It sounds like the seller has added an incorrect email address on the eBay listing, which means the payment you sent has gone to nobody, and is sat waiting to be cliamed by the owner of said email address.

It's a been a while since this has happened to me, but there are two options. If you look at the transaction in your Paypal hstory, it should say unclaimed. Click on that, and somewhere it should give you an option to Cancel the payment.

The other option is for the seller to add the spurious email address to their paypal account - one the email address has been submitted, paypal will then know who to send the money to.

As I said, it's been a while since I encountered this, but it does sound like your situation.

Thanks for your reply. I'll try being patient for a week or so, see if it can be resolved in a friendly way.
