I sold a perfume before. I didn't know that couriers don't accept perfumes. They say it's hazardous. Wow, I am such an idiot. I thought they can ship anything. I had to cancel and refund the payment.

I asked a perfume seller about shipping perfumes. The seller said it's an industry secret. I was intrigued. Hmm...can someone tell me how to ship perfumes? Do I have to lie or something? I don't want to,.

Yes, a lot of couriers will not accept it as it is classified as flamable & some bottles are also pressurised. Those who do, will only accept it as ground mail - ie, it can not be sent overseas.

Some sellers on ebay, mark there parcels as cosmetic or makeup. However, as a seller is it really worth the risk that the item may get confiscated in the post. It will only lead to unhappy buyers.

The rules have recently changed about this here in the UK (not sure where you are based) because of terrorism. We're not allowed to bring back perfumes from Duty Free shops that are over 100ml (or something like that).

Not recommended to post perfumes. If your unsure, ask the courier concerned whether they permit the shipping of it or not.

I sold a perfume before and had problems with shipping too! My courier said that they cannot said my item. So, I went home and wrapped the perfume really well. I went back to my courier and told the package was a collectible toy. :-D

Okay okay, I know what I did was wrong. I was just so desperate. I'll never do that again because it's just so risky.

I was reading mark's message and could not resist replying because I was facing the same problem a few months ago. I am a US resident and my husband was posted to Singapore to work for 2 years. I found out that he left his perfume at home and I know he cannot live without it. I wanted to give him a surprise, so I went to buy a new bottle and tried posting it out but I was told to provide the MSDS. As I am unable to get hold of that piece of document, I searched online and found a website that does the drop ship. It was efficient and cheap and they post perfumes to most of south east asian countries. If you guys are interested in the website, it is www.perfumestore.sg hope I can be of some help here.

USPS actually ships perfumes and you don't have to tell them otherwise.

Here's an article and an eBay forum thread that says so:

Hope this helps for all the perfume sellers out there!

Cheers :)

As you know Perfumes contain alcohol are classified as risky goods, so they are not allowed to ship by air mail, since they might get explode. And not reliable for safety..

Well some mailing services do provide facility to air mail the perfumes but they do charge you extra.. They mark perfumes and stuffs like that and take extra care while shipping them..
