I have a number of older audio cassette recorders and radio/cassette combinations that I'd like to sell on E-bay or elsewhere. Does anyone know whether there is a market for these items, or should I just toss them out?

Hi,

Like I mentioned in my previous post, take a look at eBay advanced search to see if similar items have sold. One alternative venue is Etsy, which has a marketplace for "Vintage" items.

It's thoughly recommended as an alternative to eBay for speciailist auctions.

hi there,

just simply type in radio cassette or cassette recorder in eBay search tab for you to see whether someone or maybe a lot have been selling same kind. But i'm sure what you have might be different with what other sellers have. So just give it a try, it won't hurt you if you will.

Good Luck!!

Hi seller784,

I would also suggest making a Completed Listings Search on eBay and checking out your competition. Check out the average selling price and the sell through rate and note that the wholesale price needs to be at least 20% lower than the retail price in order for you to make money.

If you think that there are too many sellers of this product on eBay and that it would be difficult to compete considering how low they can offer their products for, you might be better off selling on a specialist site like what Spencer has suggested. Sites like etsy.com may not be as popular and may not get the most traffic like eBay, these sites are also gaining popularity and more and more people are turning that way for some great deals.

Good luck on your business and may 2010 be a more fruitful year for you!

I'd like to thank all of you very much for your excellent suggestions. These are very helpful to me, since I'm a true novice, having posted items only twice, and sold only once! I'm looking forward to additional activity, and your responses will surely be useful as I move forward! :-D
