I have had a number of emails containing random price enquires, which obviously do not relate to any auctions I had listed.

What is the purpose of these ?

Do they contain spyware ?

This must be some sort of Scam, but I cant quite grasp what it is.

Possibly spoof emails, which encourage you to click on the link taking you to a phlishing site setup to obtain your username/password. I'm always, getting emails with messages such as "How much for shipping to 52145". Less experienced users will click directly on the link to answer the question, and their account will then be compromised.

They also send out fake paypal emails saying that they've paid for your item in the hope that you'll send it off. also they use the same emails to make you tthink your account has been hacked so you log in and WHAM! they have your details. All you need to do is be carefull. Always check these emails are genuine by logging into:

www.ebay.co.uk / www.ebay.com

and

www.paypal.com
