Jason James runs the ever successful Auction Resource Network which specialised in showing others how to use EBay successfully. Over the past year, Jason has also launched several other membership sites including uncut marketing & audio video riches.

1) How did you start on eBay & what appealed to you about the site?

Jason:
I was looking for something to do after the military, and eBay was the first thing I thought of. It's easy, low-risk, fun, and can be very profitable. What appealed was the traffic eBay was getting.... it's basically a massive pool of hungry buyers just waiting to click on "Buy It Now"

2) What is the best tool you've used to help increase your eBay sales?

Jason:
I would say the best tool I have used to increase my eBay sales is a professional template service. Basically, a service to make my auctions look professional, convey all the required information, and present high quality pictures of my items. I think presentation is very important.

3) How important is it to use eBay as a marketing tool - such as using it to drive traffic to your own sites?

Jason:
It's very important especially since the advent of the classified ads system eBay has basically allowed you to funnel their traffic to your squeeze pages and sales letters. You can also do it selling low priced ebooks, then driving people to your site with links in the ebook.

4) Whats the biggest lesson you learnt when selling on eBay?

Jason:
The biggest lesson I have learned selling on eBay is that research is very important. Theres software tools out there that allow you to search the ebay "completed listings" which shows you what items have sold in the last few months, how many bids, the item got, final selling price, and much more. By seeing what has sold and what hasn't in the past, you can use this data to optimize your current auctions.

5) Is it still possible to make a living on eBay or is there too much competition from other sellers?

Jason:
It's still very possible. eBay is a huge marketplace, and the sellers are the minority. I'm pretty sure I can start from scratch with an ebay business today, and have money in my pocket within a few days, it's not rocket science, and almost anyone can do it.

6) Any other advice for AuctionCUT members, regarding selling on eBay?

Jason:
Remember to do your research! Looking at what sold in the past, is so powerful. Be able to leverage that data to optimize your eBay auctions is so powerful. So do your research!
