hi @ all (but especially @ regular ebay users)

if you are as fed up as me with the amount of fraud going down on ebay AND about eBay intensly looking the other direction, you might like this site.

we DO have a voice, and even so it may be just wispering as of now, it will grow and we will be heard eventually.

this is a unique opportunity to see actual PROOF that eBay is actively SUPPORTING FRAUD!

In principle I agree with your motives, if your site takes off, I'd make sure you have good legal representation.
I seem to think ebay are a very large company and you are bringing their name into disrepute, without real substantive evidence.

I agree that sometimes ebay seem to be a law to themselves, but I really fraud only occurs in a small minority of sales.

Is it wise to use the ebay name in your domain name - won't this cause more problems. I hope you do succeed, but think you'll need a lot of luck to win against them.

you are right - but I doubt it's that rare! If it happened to me in 4 out of 7 purchases I made, and it happened with ALL my higher amount purchases(!)

There is not that much "bad luck" around.

I do assume that ebay-trading in the US is safer, since laws are evry strict there as it is and law-enforcement is effective. While in Europe Cons usually will get away unharmed and eBay would be nuts to change that. They are making huge profits on that fact.

Personally I think you are also right about me needing luck to win against them, but the luck will be less a question of needed during the battle but rather when it comes to who the judge is gonna be.

What ebay keeps forgetting when they give you the run-around, when they mock you, when they are sending you on a wild goose chase asking for this document and that to eventually claim not having received it and asking for it again and eventually claiming that you missed their deadlines.....(etc., you know what I mean) is, that they have been doing that to many journalists, attorneys and judges as well! No way for eBay to KNOW which of the victims of their cash cows they better treat propperly. Consequently there are many, many people out there who are just waiting to get back on eBay. All they need is a foolproof and watertight case - and I truly believe that I have been able to deliver that.

Check the updates on the website. I now can even proof that ebay was quite able and willing to IMMEDIATELY(!) remove any trace of an unjustified feedback left for one of their cash cows. Within 2 hours on a sunday evening (!) While at the same time they have been claiming for many month now, that it is not possible for them and their system to remove the "revenge feedbacks" left in my profile - of which they KNOW that they have been wrong and entered for pure revenge! Hell, they even kicked two out of these users out for what they did to me - but the damage caused by those they left untouched.

AND:
ebay also keeps claiming that they are "just a plattform" consequently having no responsibility for whats happening between people using their plattform...... I now can also proof that to be wrong!

The only obligation eBay would have as a "plattform" would be to monitor the merchandise traded on eBay for compliance with the laws. Anything thats illegal to sell by law - eBay would be obligated to remove and report.
End of story.
But: eBay does go way beyond that! There is a long list of items THEY do not want to be traded on ebay - (which as the owner of the sites is their good right) - BUT that again does rule out the role they like to play to be "just a plattform". Once you take interest, once you interfere, you are not just a plattform! - And since they profit directly from the auctions, the higher the price the higher their profit, this also does not go with claiming to be a plattform, i.e. in "just renting out the space for others to play on at their own risk".

Summing it up, I believe all it will take is ONE judge, down to earth, good common sense, not impressed by the legal sidestepping eBay and their legions of attorneys is famous for, to breath down hard on their necks. - and mind you! My intention is not to "kill ebay" - it merely is to bring them back down to earth, take responsibility where they have responsibility and make eBay again what it used to be. A place where one could trade with the confidence that those behind it take ABSOLUTELY EVERY PRECAUTION to prevent fraud and if it does happen to cushen the impact and bring those responsible to justice. ALL OF THE ABOVE ebay currently does not do.

You mention your based in Europe. Where exactly are you based? And which is your local Ebay site?

You need to be very careful, even with your site name which includes "ebay".

I know a friend who bought a domain with eBay in the name and within a matter of weeks eBay had emailed him with a threat of legal action unless he took it down.

Big Brother is watching - nice idea, but be careful.

It's certainly always a risk to include any trademark in your domain name.

fraud definately is prevelant on ebay.. however i dont know if I would go as far as to say that ebay is supporting this fraud! each to his or her own oppinion though I suppose. Wink

eBay do have a public duty to fight fraud, but I still think they only pay lip-service to the whole aspect.

There are scammers and fraudsters who have been trading for months whilst honest members get penalised for minor infringements such as keyword spamming and mis-categorisation.

If eBay want to be taken seriously as a secure and scam free environment, then they must pro-actively police the listings, deal with customer issues promptly, politely and efficiently and take hard and fast action on fraudulent listings that are repoted to them.

Over Easter bank holiday I spotted a newly registered seller with 60+ feedback from 1p listings selling multiple top-end mobile phones and MP3 players on very cheap BIN's. They sold over £20,000 worth in 4 days before being Suspended, but even if they only take 10% of the completed sales, its still £2k for not a lot of work, and £2k that should still be in the pockets of honest, but naive, buyers.
