Hello AuctionCUT members,

Why has there yet to be a viable competitor to eBay? The first thing that comes to mind is resources. EBay has a tremendous amount of resources that many other companies simply do not have. However, on the other hand there have been many well financed ventures (UBid, ebid, etc.) that have still had a trouble gaining ground on the online auction giant. A better reason as to why no platform has been able to compete is because companies are focusing too much on short-run profits and too little on implementing beneficial user features that will sustain the platform for the long term. This being said, it is impossible for a company to create the ultimate auction platform without a tremendous amount of feedback from knowledgeable online auction users such as yourselves. Everyone wants to see to see a more affordable, more user friendly auction marketplace. In order to make that possible come together and try Pricefalls.com, a new platform with a unique model that allows for free listings. Please post constructive feedback on this discussion and we will update you on our progress with implementing features that you suggest. At Pricefalls our main objective is listening to the market and working with the market to provide the most efficient and affordable auction platform on the internet.

Thanks for your time and consideration.

Hi BeAware,

There isn’t one ultimate way to get traffic. Most people use a combination of some or all of the following strategies to get more people to their site:

• Submit your product listings to Google product search (fast and free way to get more traffic) http://www.google.com/base/help/sellongoogle.html
• Optimize your site for the search engines. Traffic Travis a good free tool to help you do this http://www.traffictravis.com/
• Set up a blog on your site and create some unique and interesting content. This is also an important part of search engine optimization.
• Leverage traffic from eBay, Amazon or other auction sites. Set up an account with the username the same as your business name and list a few items at attractive prices. Put your website URL in your email signature tags and insert into template eBay emails. Set up an About Me page with photos of your business, yourself and of course, your URL.
• Use Google Adwords – although this can end up being expensive if you don’t do it properly. We recommend the free training site http://www.affilorama.com to learn more.
• Set up an email newsletter on your website. Keeping in touch with existing customers encourages repeat sales.
• Set up an affiliate program.

Hope that helps! All the best! to more visits and ever increasing traffic ratings :)
