From my experience, it seems like alot of people have been turned off by paypal, either by word of mouth or by personal experiences.
Offering alternate forms of payment, such as money orders or other online payment processors may be a sure fire way to increase bids and get more for your auctions. Don't limit yourself to just using paypal, as I've seen alot of auctions do... |

| Agreed. Although the majority of people do still use paypal, why would you isolate yourself & turn away bids by not accepting other payment forms. |

| PayPal is terrible, the only reason people use them is because eBay tells them to, and that's because eBay and PayPal are the same company. PayPal is a horrible processor, especially for the merchant. Not only will you incite more bids by offering other options, you'll be better off using other processors than PayPal. |

Hi
Recently I had very good experience with PayPal, my refund was done within 3 days of applying regarding the seller who didn't send me my goods.
Other good payment facility is Nochex, as they said in their About us page:
About Us
Who are we?
We are an independent, privately owned company based in Leeds, England. We are certified by the Financial Services Authority as a Small Electronic Money Issuer and regulated as a Money Service Business by HM Customs & Excise.
I have account with them, and they are very good. At least they are not ebay another payment site. |

| I like nochex also as you don't have to have an account to send money. I think it's called Quicksend or something similar. I have only used it a few time but it's been pretty easy to use. |

I think Paypal have become the most popular form of payment as you can get your money almost instantly rather than have to wait for cheques to clearof orders to arrive and pay in at the post office.
It does however seem strange to me that people would limit themselves purely to being paid by paypal. Even if it does mean waiting a little longer for payment your right it could mean a bigger payment than by accepting only Paypal. |

| Paypal is good yet bad. It can be very effective in helping you to sell a product to those who are to young to have a credit card but old enough to have a paypal account. I guess its sort of like a double-edged sword. Use at your discretion. |

| I think you should offer money orders, personal checks, moneybookers online payments and the western union money orders online as well. And if you are feeling very business like you can go ahead and accept credit cards directly. I am not sure what the fees are on the above mentioned services, but I'm sure they are worth it when doing a good business. Many people do not want to fool with PayPal for one reason or the other. There are plenty of PayPal horror stories on the internet and if you check the BBB online you will see they are in the files there quite a bit. |

Paypal need to re-arrange their rate structure. For items won through eBay the rate should be much less - after all they are one and the same company. Every item I list on eBay, I lose 3 slices of the pie - Listing fee, FVF, and paypal fee. And those slices are going to one greedy fatcat!
I've noticed a lot of people offering online direct bank transfer, but I'm not convinced on the security of this? The sellers would have my name, address, & bank details - pretty a much a scam in the making!
Any thoughts? |

I personally use paypal to pay for my winning bids.On one occassion I did pay by cheque.
I would not pay by direct bank transfer because like you I am worried about the security of my bank details, |
