Hi there,
i recently purchased a laptop of ebay, from a decent seller i think feedback of 90 - also the last two positives were from selling quite expensive laptops, so when they stated they only accepeted payment via bank transfer, cheque etc i thought it would be ok especially with the increase in so many people hating paypal, i my self dont like dealing through them. how ever 2 weeks down the line i have not recieved anything , no contact from seller apart from couple days after saying it would be posted next day, is there anything i can do? ebay arent being very helpful im guessing cos i didnt use THEIR paypal method, my mum thinks i should just inform the police, is this the best route to go down, anyone had similar experiences and been succesful to get their money back? |

How did you pay for the laptop - bank transfer or Western Union/Forex etc, and where was the seller based? If it is an international sale, then you will have a lot of work to convince the police to follow it up. Search the sellers completed listings to see how many other items they have sold, and if the buyers have left feedback yet. It may be worth contacting a few thru eBay messages - if enough people are having a similar problem, then eBay or the authorities may take more notice.
Paypal, for all it's faults, is one of the most secure ways to pay providing the listing offers adequate Buyer Protection levels. Check the item listing see what may have been offered - but you will need to raise an Item Not Received Dispute to progress anywhere - http://feedback.ebay.co.uk/ws/.....ateDispute
Unfortunately, this has all the hallmarks of either a scam seller, or hijacked account. Did you see what the 90 feedbacks were from besides the two laptops? |
