eBay to Reduce Fees
Have you heard the news?

Starting September, eBay will reduce their listing fee for fix-priced items to just $0.35. Not only is eBay reducing the listing fee, but you get a full 30-days of action and multiple item listing for your money. Sounds like a pretty good deal, right?

Actually, what appears to be a fee reduction is actually a fee increase. eBay hides the fact that they have INCREASED their fees on the backend. So instead of paying 8.75% of the final selling price in addition to the present initial listing fee of $0.10-4.00 you'll be paying as much as 15% of the final selling price. Nearly double the old fee schedule.

In reality eBay has gone from nickel and diming their sellers, to $5 and $10 them. But what about the fact that you're getting a 30-day and mulitple item listing for your $0.35? Isn't that a good deal? When you consider that if your item doesn't sell in a week, it probably is not going to sell in a month; eBay wins again. In that case, eBay makes their $0.35, thank you very much fee, and you've received some very good feedback that your product is probably not going to sell. However, what If it does sell? What if you sell 1,000 of them at $20 a piece. What's eBay's end? It's as much as an addtional 6.25% per item. So, on your 1,000 sales of a $20 book eBay gets another $1250 of your hard earned money.

All I can say is Caveat venditor (let the seller beware!)
