|
|
It's second nature when shopping online to pay by Paypal. Although Paypal offers some protection when shopping online, by funding the payment through your credit card as opposed to your Paypal balance, you will also benefit from the substantial protection your card provider offers.
Paypal is normally setup to allow credit card payments only as a last option. Payments will normally come out of your Paypal balance first, followed by echeques or bank account funding.
To make your payments through credit cards first, ensure that your card is registered with Paypal. You do this by adding it to your profile.
Even at this stage, your card is not offered as a payment method.
To force Paypal to make the option appear you must now empty any balance remaining in your Paypal account. To do this, you need an alterative email address (in your possession) which is not connected to a Paypal account.
Simply send any Paypal balance to this email account.
In this case, the balance is £27.18 and you can see the email address is not registered with Paypal as the page at Paypal explains
| Quote: | | With the details you have submitted we are unable to confirm that the recipient has registered with us. Paypal will send an email to the recipient explaining how to complete your transaction. |
Now that your Paypal balance is nil, the option for credit card payments will appear when you attempt to send money, as well as other payment options previously not available. You can now send any payments though your credit card.
After you've sent your payment, all that's left to do is to reverse the payment that cleared your Paypal balance. To do this, go to the recent history list on the main Paypal page.
As you can see, the payment is still unclaimed as the email account you used is not registered with Paypal yet. This gives you the option to cancel the payment which will reverse the payment, restoring it to your balance.
Restoring your previous balance. |
