Hi, just wondering if anyone has had this problem with ebay - I am an experienced ebayer with 180+ feedback (buying and selling) but have never encountered this issue before.
I listed an item on Saturday in two categories. However, the next day (20 hours after listing) the item had still not appeared in either category, nor could it be found through searching by title keywords. The listing was only accessible via MyEbay and if I searched by the item number - not much use for potential buyers!
Believing a technical problem to be the cause, I ended the auction early and then created a new listing from scratch yesterday at around 3pm. I also emailed ebay support.
My item has STILL not appeared in searches or categories even now. Ebay replied to my email with the standard "you need to wait for indexing to finish" and "because it's a branded item we need to check for possible counterfeit items".
This is clearly nonsense, since other members have listed branded items in the same categories, after I listed mine, and their items are present.
I'm feeling really p*ssed that ebay have taken my listing fee but I've lost nearly 24 hours (on the most recent listing) for nothing!
Anyone got any suggestions or ideas please? |

Hi Mark
Thanks for your reply. My item has now appeared at last! Just over 24 hours after listing, it is now searchable. As I said before I've never before encountered such a delay.
The categories are Computing>Vintage Computing and Consumer Electronics>Portable Audio>MiniDisc. The item is a MiniDisc data drive.
Regards

| I have had this problem before. Though not as long of wait has yours. Seems it is with name brand items or electronics. |

Enter the item number into this link http://search.ebay.co.uk/_W0QQtZvbQQsofindtypeZ4 and search by Location.
It will tell you what page the item is on, or if it is still indexing. If you are listing anything with what could be a designer name, such as prada, Gucci, rolex, chanel etc - these take longer to appear. Likewise, if certain words related to firearms or of an adult nature are used, that can cause longer delays. Colt, Magnum, bullet-shaped, Virgin Isles, Breast Pump, etc all can be red-flagged for longer indexing. |
