As you may know, ebay, in their 'wisdom' has decided to no longer allow sellers to leave negative feedback for buyers as of Feb. 20th '08. Great! Way to go Ebay! Now any scumbag can not pay for an auction item and in addition, can leave you negative feedback without fear of receiving the same. The seller has no recourse except to leave a negative 'positive'. Thanks ebay! Exactly how much PCP did they have to smoke to decide on this lunatic idea?
To help minimize risk, does anyone out there know of a pool of members' blocked bidders lists or, would people be interested in forming one? The sharing of this information would greatly benefit the seller community and would at least help weed out the most egregious offenders. Duplicate list entries could be ranked for risk factor. For example, if a member is blocked by a dozen sellers, I'd sure like to block them too.
To avoid unscrupulous sellers from adding their competitors to the master list, sellers with a feedback of say a hundred or more could somehow be omitted from the list - maybe not possible but worth mentioning.
In short, I am proposing a universal black list.

| In theory this is a good idea, lots of the forums operate similar things....is quite open to abuse however but if controlled well then it could work well.. |

| Would it not be a problem that the blocking bidders list can only hold upto 1000 names. Surely this would get full up very quickly if everyone shared information? |

One of the changes that slipped through quietly with the recent announcements was that the BBL is being increased to 5000.
Woohoo... with registered 183,000,000-odd users!! A drop in the ocean, but in fairness I think BBL's are a personal matter. Mine is far from heavily used, but I have a few names on it that I have not had transactions with, merely a few run-ins along the path.
I sometimes add names from obscure ASQ's that I receive, and a few sellers in similar markets will occasonally give me a heads up on disgruntled competitors. |
