Hey all,

I think I am too sleepy to research anymore. So i will just ask you. I am starting out on ebay.

If i list an item on ebay and they charge me insertion fees etc. What happens if the item is not sold. Will I still be charged insertion fees etc. I was just thinking that if i list 20 items and none of them get sold for some reason, then I will loose quite a lot in the long run.

Cheers

Yes they charge the fee if your item is not sold they charge their fee. You can check an other company which is situated in UK i.e. zaffoo.co.uk . It provides the facilities like ebay and you can made your free ecommerce website.

Hey hdavy2002,

it wasn't a dumb question.

Glad you found the answer.

I'm sure there are others who have the same question but don't know the answer yet, so:

yes, ebay charges an auction fee if the item doesn't sell. But in most cases you can put the item up for sale again, and if it sells the second time, your fees for the first auction get refunded.

Yup, another reason why ebay is just stealing everyone's money. Just to remind everyone, like I posted in another topic, I've been using iOffer and they've worked pretty well.

FREE listings, pictures, stores, etc. NO listing fees or whatever to start. Listings DO NOT expire, so just list it and keep it there forever until it sells!

I'm sure there are other similar sites, but right now I'm just in my iOffer phase haha Try it!

I don't thing Ebay is ripping any body off. I think their fees are a little high, but their in business to make money. They should charge a listing fee. It's not their fault if your item doesn't sell.

If you don't sell the item, you are still charged an insertion fee, but you can also continue to relist it and you won't be charged a final fee until is sells :)

still, they charge you for relisting, their final value fees are higher than other sites, and they get you with other smaller fees here and there that will definitely add up.

plus, you can only use PayPal, which is owned by eBay, charging you more fees.

that's why many people are looking at alternative selling sites and alternative payment methods. i am seeing a lot more negative comments about ebay now.
