Hello All. I'm trying to find the best way to sell a pre-owned dress. Would it be a good idea to take a picture of someone wearing the dress or on a hanger? Any other ideas would be appreciated :)

By taking a photo of the garment on a hanger, it will give someone the re-assurance that the dress is clean and ready to go. You don't want to leave any doubt in the buyers mind that the dress hasn't been cared for and has recently been worn by the previous owner.

I'd take a number of pictures. One on a hanger and one with someone wearing it. You've already said the dress is pre-owned so buyers know it has been worn and won't be put off by someone wearing it. It will also help potential buyers to visualise the dres on themselves. The more quality pictures you take the more chance you will have of selling it.

Definitely don't take a picture with someone wearing the dress. Use a large, broad hanger, and make sure the lighting is good.

Hi proofreader2000,

You could do both or either one (on a hanger or on a real person) so long as you take pictures from different angles to give buyers a good look at the dress. Close-up shots of certain parts of the dress will also be nice, like to highlight beautiful detailing...

Also make sure that your description is accurate and describes the dress in its true condition - this helps avoid any complaints from the buyer that the dress is not as described on your listing.

I suggest taking a look at similar items on eBay and completed listings, and see whether there is a market for what you've got. You could also try selling it at your local flea or car-boot market, where a lot of pre-owned (used) clothing lovers go!

Hope this helps! All the best :)
