What's selling on eBay at the moment, have you discovered any profitable dropshippers or wholesalers?

I have sold on Ebay before (stuff from the house) but would like to make it a part time job so I can stay home with my new baby. I LOVE the idea of dropshipping and have found your posts really interesting and helpful. Can anyone give me some direction as to how to research some of these dropshipping companies to find out if they are direct or the middleman. Also, I would really appreciate any other getting started advice in this arena. Thank you very much!

I would recommend either going with the bigger dropshippers (worldwidebrands etc) or approaching local wholesalers in your area and seeing if they would offer the service

Hi. I can only reiterate some advice I gave in replies to other posts - research, research, research! As you are obviusly online, all the information is at your fingertips - it's just a case of visiting the dropship sites, reading the forum postings (of which there are many), etc., etc.

Once you find a supplier you like, and a formula that works, then stick with them, but never stop researching and learning!

I wish you best of luck - who knows in a few months, you may be back answer posts and giving sound advice yourself! :)

Regards.

Okay, I'm going to go the other way than some of the other replies and say that dropshipping is a BAD idea. You're much better off purchasing items from manufacturers or distributors (in small quantities) and selling them.

Why? Because dropshippers can cause headaches. Assuming you get a good one, you might find that you posted an auction for an item that is out of stock. Oops! Now what do you do?

eBay is a competitive marketplace, and one of the best ways to compete is by offering exceptional customer service. By using a dropshipper, you give away some of the control as to how your customers are treated. Will they process orders and send packages out in a timely manner?

If you do decide to go with dropshipping anyway, be cautious of the China-based or overseas dropshippers. You're going to be paying a lot more for shipping, and delivery times are going to be much longer. People want to get their stuff quickly! Common sense, really.

Keep in mind that you may only have a drop shipper that sells baseball cards. Then there is one that sells only toy race cars. The best way to find a drop shipper for free is to call the number on the box of the product and call them asking for a list of wholesalers and call the wholesalers seeing if they drop ship also.

NOTE: Did you know that the biggest mistake new eBay sellers make is that they forget to use the 80/20 rule? Send me a message and I'll tell you more.

If you don't go with dropshipping, what many people don't realize is that you can schedule most of the major delivery services to come to your home office for pickups instead of trudging down to their offices every day. With a new baby you may find this easier.

I would use wholesalers instead of dropshipping. You can make a higher profit and you are in control of shipping your product. You can get a free wholesaler list at http://wholesalerlist.webalias.com

If you are looking for an ongoing supply of high profit items I have found local auctions to be the best source personally. I have bought and sold hundreds of items from these sales and my profit per item averages 100% profit! I have even sold items that I paid $5 for that closed for over $500 on many occasions. I don't have too many items listed at the moment but you can see some examples if you look up my eBay ID: localauctionprofits.com*. (Don't forget the asterix). I have another local auction comming up in a few days that should fill up my listings again.
