Is it better to use a picture you took yourself or a professional one from an online catalog as the listing image?

Thanks.

Hi chrispaul,

If you have a good digital camera, I would say its much better to take your own photos. That way you're listing will not appear the same as everyone else (who's getting their products from the same supplier as you are). Also you get to show the item in different angles giving your customer a good look at the product before buying it - this may even help convince them to buy it. Remember your photos and item description are the only things the customer has to hold since they can't really see the products in their hands till they receive it from you.

Here are a few tips that you may find helpful:

I would offer both in the auction but spend your time capturing quality photos and using them in your listing.

"Library" photos often make me suspicious. What has the seller got to hide that means they can't or won't take a picture of the actual item?
