Hello,

If you're new to selling on eBay, it's actually best to start out as a buyer. Starting out as a buyer enables you to understand how the process works and what eBay looks like from the point of view of the buyer. I learned from an eBay expert that you'll never be successful selling on eBay until you learn to buy. He's right.

Having said all of that, I would suggest that, when you do begin to sell, you not get into the bulk wholesale thing - at least not right away. There are a ton of wholesalers and drop shippers out there that are less than desirable to do business with. It's just a very tricky area. I had the same thoughts myself when I started on eBay, but came to realize that it's difficult to succeed in that area because so many eBayers do it, making it extremely price competitive and not very profitable.

Best, I think, to start by selling stuff of your own that you no longer want or need. When I started selling (after buying some stuff myself), I sold several pairs of shoes that my brother gave me that I didn't really need or want. That gave me some valuable experience and increased my confidence as a seller.

If I weren't so new to this forum, I'd give you a link to a great resource that helped me, and continues to help me in my own eBay efforts. Oh well, maybe another time.

I hope this helps.

Hi There

I totally agree with Bob. If you are only just starting out, you need to be very very careful with who to dropship with or who to buy from, from overseas.

When I first started out, I spent weeks and weeks trying to figure this out, I ended up looking into Alibaba, and realised that the majority (not all) but ALOT of their products were fake, meaning that if you sold them on eBay you would land yourself in very hot water very quickly.

Instead, I went another way about it, and started selling from Second Hand Stores. You're probably thinking what?? But, I now make a full time income doing this on eBay.

What alot of people don't realise, is that you can purchase BRAND NEW clothing with Tags, or very high quality second hand clothes from these stores.

I do this because 1/ I don't have to worry about Importing & Customs Issues
2/ I can check out the clothes before I buy
3/ The profits that you can make are HUGE. Seriously, you can pick up a high labelled garment for under $10 and sell it for $60-70-80 EASY

4/ I'm a mum of 3 and I take my daughter along for the ride, so she plays with the toys in the store while I shop :)

Take this into consideration. If you need anymore help, just contact me. :)

It's easier to find a wholesale supplier if you know exactly what products you need. There are a different types of suppliers
the Manufacturer , Importer / Exclusive Distributor , the Wholesaler / Regional Distributor and the Jobbers, "wagon peddlers. Always try the manufacturer first. By starting at the source (the manufacturer), you can either get the lowest prices or at least get a list of the most reputable distributors to kickoff your search.Take the list of wholesale distributors you got from the manufacturer, and start contacting each one. What you're looking for are minimum order requirements and their wholesale unit prices. To get the best responses, be honest about what you're looking for

Try searching for wholesalers on Google and Look for wholesale lots on eBay.

Hi Rob

Personally I would be looking for a supplier closer to home before dabbling in Alibaba and all them kinds of websites.

You will always struggle, as there are many cases of fraud, poor quality products and huge competition when sourcing from these places, but if you have to, ensure you perform all the necessary checks on your supplier before commiting to a big purchase (sample orders should be given consideration also)
