Here's some great info. The poster is writing weekly installments on their ebay experience. Here's the links to weeks 1 & 2. All practical, honest, no nonsense stuff - sharing lots of specifics. Definitely worth a look!

Another really great source of information for beginners and seasoned sellers alike are the workshops being offered by eBay's certified service providers. For more information visit eBay's workshop calendar:

You've heard the saying - "A picture speaks a thousand words", or something like that!
Well, the picture of your item on E-Bay is the key to selling or not.
Yes, the heading is important and the description is too, but if you have a good, clear, close-up, well-lit picture then you will sell.
A poor, fuzzy, dark, far-away photo and you will never sell your item!
After seven years successfully selling on E-Bay I am certain that the free photo is the most important part of the listing.
Have a go! And good luck!

Yes, pictures do matter a lot since, the customer cannot actually see and hold the products before paying for it. But the listing title and description plays a vital role too, that is if you want your items to be found when someone searches through eBay. Choosing the right keywords to include in your listing's title is very important and should be done wisely. Like wise a well written description gives you a better edge - it helps convince buyers to actually buy your products. It will show customers your professionalism as a seller too - the way you write will tell a lot about you!

There is a lot of good advice here, but if you are a new seller, you should buy at least ten items and request feedback as soon as you pay or receive the items, there are $1 items from sellers like http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 318wt_1137 OR http://cgi.ebay.com/LOT-5-LABTEC-KEYBOA ... 108wt_1137 OR http://cgi.ebay.com/Jason-Keller-81-Kra ... 500wt_1154
Just search for NIB by price $1-$2 and you can buy all kinds of FEEDBACK.
Then after you have ten minimum, start selling items.

as a relatively new seller on eBay myself I have learned a few things that are very important to know-first- start small sell something or some things that are relatively cheap-second and most important-be certain to check the fees charged by both eBay and PayPal for your transactions-including printing shipping labels for you-third --be sure to check the shipping charges before you buy or sell -- these three things can make the difference between profit and loss -- I learned this the hard way

Couldn't agree more! Erika Garnika, an eBay PowerSeller and Former eBay Top Seller Account Manager, has been sharing delightful tips and tricks in creating powerful and effective eBay listing. I'd like to share them with you and here are some of her major points:
- Write a magnetic title - remember, there are only 55 available characters in the title, you will need to think of the keywords most buyers will type in when searching for that item. However you should also consider that the words you'll be using are relevant to the item you are selling. (Who would want to disappoint potential buyers with a misleading title, right?)
- Use crisp and captivating images - avoid using stock photos from your manufacturer's website
- Select an appropriate starting price - should you use a fixed price or an auction? This will all depend on good research related to the product pricing and existing competition.

Cheers! :)
