Hey guys and gals-I thought I'd ask the experts here directly since we have a slightly different question than most on the forum.

To start, I own an online wine club and export business. We were recently approved to sell wine on ebay, which is a bit different because they check permits and everything else to make sure you'll legally able to sell and ship wine.

I started putting my wine clubs and a few wine sampler packs up for fixed price sales and unfortunately are showing up on the 3rd page of search results, behind a number of results which aren't even close to relevant.

Does adding a sub title help? We've used keywords in the title and have a fairly good description.

It's especially important for us to be found when people search for "wine" or "wine club" or any variation because the process to find wine through the ebay generated categories is virtually impossible (Home & Garden-> Inside the Home etc etc)

Thanks in advance!

Mark

Hi MarkAse,

We have several blog posts that discussed ways to create an effective eBay listing. The tips are from Erika Garnica, eBay PowerSeller and Former eBay Top Seller Account Manager. I know they have great points that can give excellent insights. Have a read at http://www.salehoo.com/blog/the-fundame ... y-listings and
at http://www.salehoo.com/blog/astonishing ... ngs-go-pop

Hope this helps!

Although this post is a bit old I really wanted to reply! you are on the 3rd page due to ebay UNfair seller rating system. I have been on ebay since 2005 and have a second account from 2006 seller car parts. You need to be Top rated to get top of the BEST MATCH catagory which is not that easy! I have 4.8s all round which is great in my catogory but still not good enough as Royal mail lost 4 of my parcels in the last year. I paid all these people back but it means I did not make the mark!?

If there was another site with so many buyers I would drop ebay today!

If you change your search to Ending soonest you get a real picture of whats listed and when it finishes. Ebay have best match as there defualt and I would say 50% of buyers dont even know how to change it to ending soonest.

I must add to be an "auction" site I would think ending soonest would be the defualt!

I think I am making a factual statement here by saying ebay is STUPID! UNFAIR and DAM RIGHT EXPENSIVE!

Keywords only matter in the listing title so adding a sub title won't help.

I seem to remember reading somewhere that listing items with the duration "Good til canceled" improves their placement in the search results. Unfortunately, I can't recall exactly where I saw or heard that, so don't take it as gospel.

I do know that it's important to be in the right category or categories, and that if you use some relevant keywords (not your auction title) when selecting which categories to list in, it'll help direct you to the best category or categories.

I hope this helps a bit.
