Hi All,

I am new to EBay. I noticed that the last 3 items I have bid on have been outbid by 50cents at the exact moment I bid. This means I am outbid immediately.

Is this some sort of snipe? Is there something I can do about it?

I assume it is because they have entered a high max bid.

That way ebay will automatically go higher if somebody bids until you bid higher than their max.

E.g. I enter max bid of £10 for £1 item

Ebay says i have made £1 bid

Bob bids £4

Ebay automatically bids £4.50 from me (as it is below my max)

Tom bids £11

Tom is winning as he has gone over my max.

Thanks for the help.

How do I set up my account so that it will only outbid someone by small increments (eg 50cents) and not my full max price? As this person is outbidding me each time. Had a look at ebay but couldn't find any help

The bids are controlled by EBay and will increment depending on the bids placed by the bidders, unless of course you are planning to snipe at the very end.
