What do you wish someone would have told you about ebay.

I'll start - When i started selling on ebay, i was only accepting payment by check or postal order. Never even thought about using paypal and being paid straight away till about a year later

I wish someone would of told me that it is impossible to find TRUE wholesalers, dropshippers, etc on search engines.

90% of the dropshippers found online are SCAMS! I have 1 tip for people: If they charge you a fee to become a reseller for them, THEY'RE SCAMMING YOU!

Even if you think that you have come across a legit "wholesaler" online, make sure you check up on them through the Better Business Bureau (just go to http://bbb.org and type in the url of the company) this website will give you a report on the company. If they happen to not be listed, play it safe and don't sign up with them!!! You can also check up on companies on this website: http://ripoffreport.com

Just know that even if they are legit, almost all of them are not real wholesalers. These companies are "middle men", they get in between you and the real wholesaler, which means that their prices are not as low as they should be. I tried a couple of websites for dropshipping such as jupiterwholesale.com, but there are so many people selling those items on ebay, including the company itself, that it just creates way too much competition.

If you are willing to pay a LEGIT company that will supply you with LEGIT wholesale sources, you can pay a one time fee to get access to dropshippers and whatever else you need. I know it sucks to pay fees but I rather save time and not risk being scammed.

I recommend only two wholesale directories:

1. Salehoo: Cost: $49.95 - They are always adding new distributors and deleting older ones as necessary. They have an active member forum where you can research distributors before doing business with them. It is a great learning place. SaleHoo is also a member of the Better Business Bureau and FTA verified as well as being an eBay Developers Program Member.
56 days money back guarantee.

2. Worldwide Brands: Cost: $249- More pricey but worth the money if you have it. Instant product analysis tools that will tell you how good a profit you can make before selling. Millions of sources. Verified by Ebay, BBB, and many more. 30 Day money back guarantee.

I suggest starting with Salehoo (since it's cheaper) and start getting some good sources from them. When you start getting experience and making good enough money with your ebay business, move it up a notch and subscribe to worldwide brands.

Do you have any statistics regarding these sites? Are you an affiliate?

Both links are affiliatte links so I would assume yes. Worldwide Brands is a good one, I use them myself from time to time.

Yeah, me too. I was hoping the poster would come out and say he/she was an affiliate. I get a little tired of veiled compliments regarding sites. It seems to be happening more and more.

Me too! That's why we don't allow affiliate linking directly and ask that any affiliate links are masked. I sent a pm to the original poster informing them of this policy and asking them to remove them. As they never responded the affiliate status of the links was removed a few days back.

Back on topic, I wish someone would have told me about the whole concept of eBay sooner. I was online for about two years before I really started using ebay as a business.

My biggest Eureka moment was discovering Turbo Lister!!
No more frantic listing on Thursday and Sunday afternoons!

My next was learning how to use Excel to make full use of the downloaded Sales and Invoicing reports.

I wish someone would have told me to check things like feedback and how active people are before I started. The amount of times I just bought and didn't check and got stuffed was ridiculous. Even when checking feedback if someone is 100% is that on one item or 100? Big difference on the reliability of the deal going through smoothly.
Check everything as much as you can would be myy bestadvice even today. Far too easy to get caught up in the heat of the auction and not check everything.

The problem is that with any auction situation a person will become very excited and forget about good advice they were previously told. The only way to learn lessons is to live through them. Hopefully without making too many losses!

I wish someone would have told me that the majority of the wholesale / dropship options are long dried up. Many powersellers even selling products at a loss to drive away competition. Ebay can be brutal when you're stepping into others turf, ha.
