I wish to advise potential users of eBay that I believe I have been scammed by an eBay user from Kent, Washington. I believe it is in other eBay users' interest that the details of this case be made public.
The user's eBay ID is zgnuvw, and the auction is question can be found under eBay as item number 8072127548.
I receive prompt and courteous communications from this seller after the auction, and once satisfied he seemed legitimate, I sent the $1350 plus an extra $200 for shipping to Australia, via cashier's cheque. He then contacted me to say the item had been shipped.
The expected delivery time to Australia is quite long (3 months), and after this time had elapsed I attempted to contact him to find out if he could provide any shipping information I could use to begin an investigation with USPS. I received no reply. I tried multiple times again via eBay, hotmail and telephone, all of which was ignored. I then sent an eBay message outright accusing him of being a scammer, which also received no reply. I have also attempted to begin a squaretrade.com mediation with him, which he also would not respond to. He has been using his account for other minor purchases in the interim, so there is no doubt he has received my messages. I am now contacting law enforcement in his area to begin an investigation of fraud.
I have contacted eBay Safe Harbour, but they told me that since it was greater than 60 days since the auction that I could not start an Item not Received dispute. My retort that the expected delivery time was greater than 60 days, and therefore there was no way I could have known that I was being defrauded, had no effect. They will not take any action against this person.
Everything I have written here is correct without embellishment. I will invite the user to reply here if he wishes to, despite the fact that he has refused to communicate with me via any other channel. Again, I present this in order to prevent other users from being defrauded by this person.
