1. their stock is dropping every day and they are laying off people left and right. Just try to call them and get an answer within 30 minutes. Thats because half of their staff is gone. They have been ripping people off for years, and now have a monopoly with paypal and it is costing them their business.
2. Ebay is the most expensive site to sell on in the world. They charge almost 10% of what the action starts at then 4% on the difference of the selling price, then when the buyer pays you through paypal (Owned by Ebay), they steal another 4%. All in all you lose about 20% of what you sell your item for.
3. Ebay has a monopoly with paypal, in which if you try to use anything else other than Paypal to accept payments, they do everything from misleading you to outright lying to you about other services in an effort to force you to use paypal. I tried to integrate my merchant account to accept credit cards, and they claimed that I was all set. When buyers tried to pay, I found that the integration was not done properly. When I called they told me that I would have to open a paypal account and accept paypal for those items, and that there would then be no need for me to integrate my merchant account because I would already have paypal and to use that to accept payments and that Paypal is safe and secure and convenient for buyers.
4. Ebay and Paypal are designed with ONLY the seller in mind. If you should ever get a charge back, you lose the money. Paypal will refund their money to them and never get your side of the story first, and they could care less if the buyer returns the item to you. As a seller, Paypal claims they offer seller protection but in reality, it has been proved that there is none, and there are loopholes in every one of their policies.
5. Paypal is NOT a bank. They are not a merchant account, by tradition. They just process your credit card payments, and you have NO RIGHTS. They hold payments, refund money, and god forbid if they suspend your account, you will not get your money for 6 months.
6. Ebay's DSR Rating system is optional for buyers to fill out when they leave feedback, yet ebay uses this optional system to rate your seller performance and determine whether or not you can sell on ebay. And 9 times out of 10, if your ebay account is suspended, your Paypal account will get suspended, and then you are left with nothing.
TIPS:
1. I really do not reccommend anyone to use ebay in any way. Let them rot-they did this to themselves.
2. When you sell something, NEVER mail anything out until you have "cash in hand" Transfer all funds to your bank account and then wait until the money is actually in your hand before you mail anything. Paypal will hold your first payments, including the shipping charges, when you start out. This is not right.
3 Open an extra bank account just for your paypal account. If the s**t hits the fan, Paypal and Ebay will take you for everything you have and then some, and you will get screwed. Like I said with chargebacks, they will always refund the buyer and then thats it. They do not care if you get your items back, even though they claim they do.
Listen, I could go on and on. Use Amazon. Once you are paid you never have to worry about chargebacks, unless you lie in the descriptions. Once you enter a tracking number for the item, its done. Your paid, and thats it. Amazon never holds payments. Amazon currently has 30% more traffic than ebay. Apply the selling techniques that you would have used for ebay, and apply them to amazon. It is cheaper, and you will NEVER get scammed. Amazon never lets you fill an order and ship items out until they have confirmed a credit card payment. Then they send you an email with the order, and it is already paid for. Guaranteed. There are so many advantages to selling on Amazon against ebay. Ebay stock is currently at $22.58, and Amazon is rising every day and is over $85.00. This means they have more business than ebay and are worth more money. You do what you want, but numbers don't lie. Also go see how many complaints ebay and paypal have registered against them with the BBB.
