Ive had a customer, who purchased a DVD set from me, they initially cliamed it hadn't been delivered, however when I used track and trace, it was signed for by the buyer...when I confronted him with this information, he told me the DVDs dont work!

Now, I;ve asked him to return them to me for a refund, but he is refusing to send the dvds back to me special delivery so I can trace them! He's open a dispute stating unauthorised account access - I know in these situations Ebay sides 100% with the buyer - what the hell can I do?

You don't want negative feedback. Just send him his money back and eat the cost. It sucks but that's business. You loose money sometimes but if this guy leaves you negative feedback it can eat into your future profits.

Yes, but what stops him from leaving a NEG after Ive refunded him, then I stuffed either way!

Honestly, he could still leave it but it's less likley for this person to do so if you just return the money with no hassle. Even ask this person if they will leave positive feeback if you refund the money with no questions asked.

Also, offer a 15% discount on anther purchace as well as return the money. 80% of your business comes from 20% of your busniess. You also still get to send him emails to make more money. That's gold.
