Selling information products (or info products as they’re popularly called) on eBay is a very lucrative way to make money on the popular auction site. But oftentimes when people sell a product, video presentation or audio product on eBay, they’re setting themselves up for failure right from the start.

Below are things you can avoid and also do to make more on eBay.

* Common Mistake - Not Offering Information Products in Multiple Media Formats

This also is a very among those who sell information products or knowledge based products. They don’t take the time to make ease of accessibility in other products they offer for buyers. What does that mean - multiple media formats?

What that means is that if you’re selling just books, you’re missing out on 75% of the pie. Not all people who buy products out there want to buy a book from you. A perfect example is someone who buys audiocassettes.

* A lot of people who buy audio products would rather buy an audio recording because what that does is that it frees them up from having to handle the book, having to highlight the key areas.

It frees them up from actually reading the book. They can play the audiocassette while they’re cooking, while they’re driving in their vehicle, while they’re doing another task. They’re able to get knowledge-based products, solutions to their questions and concerns in the form of an audio medium.

* What about people who like seminars? People who have an interest in actually experiencing the purchase of a particular product or service?

Well that’s extremely important too. There are people who would rather come out and meet a seller in person. Some people would rather come out and see a seminar, get the printed material, but actually experience the buying process and the educational process in person.

Why does that work? Well a lot of times people will have specific questions that are unique to their specific situation and they’re willing to pay extra money to come out and meet you in person, to listen to guest speakers and to learn more about how they can succeed and incorporate their knowledge that they’ve acquired throughout their years of experience with what you share with them. So its really a valuable tool to offer your product in different media formats that are not just print but also audio and perhaps video and through seminars. It is important that people realize that.

What about electronic media such as CD-ROMs or possibly DVDs, since that’s becoming increasingly popular these days? What your seeing these days is your seeing a transition in video technology from VHS technology to DVD. The recent statistics show that VHS will be obsolete probably in about the next four years - that’s what they’re projecting.

You’re also seeing some advances when it comes to internet technology. There is a big thrust with increased bandwidth on the internet for people to use what is called video streaming.

* The multi-media functionality that the Internet provides for us is very powerful, so you have to make sure that you do offer products in multiple formats. In your advertisements and anything that you’re offering, the more formats you have available the bigger potential you have for customers actually buying your product.

Many customers want to be able to find out more about products online. So instead of sending them a long lengthy email letter, you will send them a link, which is a download link they can download off the internet and it tells them about your product.

It gives them objective information about what the product consists of but its in an audio format. What it does is it frees you up from having to type a long lengthy letter explaining what the product consists of and that’s a big plus.

One more common mistake that auction websites have nowadays that there navigation is poor.. Customers should be assisted with easy and informative stuff on any website and multiple offers should also be provided

Cheers
