Hi everyone:


I don't have much experience on eBay so pardon me if I'm asking the obvious. I bought an XBOX 360 on 11/30/2008 and paid for it right away using the PayPal (through a credit card). I have both PayPal and eBay accounts in good standing with confirmed addresses. Right after the payment I sent a message for the seller thanking him for transaction and confirming my shipping address (that matches my PayPal address on file).

The day later I got a response from the seller telling me that he thanks me as well and that he will ship the item as soon as my payment clears. He also promised to send me a tracking number. I waited for a couple of days but no email with a tracking number arrived. I contacted the seller again yesterday, asking how long will it take him to clear my payment, but so far has not received any answer. I know that PayPal clears the credit card transaction almost immediately, so I don't see the reason why the seller will be waiting for my payment to clear, right?

I read many bad stories about scammers on eBay, so I'm kind of concerned about this transaction.

Can someone suggest what shall I be doing now and how long shall I wait for the item to be shipped?

hmm...for me i would give it a week or two to see if the seller does anything. i would also keep emailing him for updates if possible.

check his seller ratings and see what others have said about him/her in the past, and see what kinds of items they've been selling. xbox 360 may seem like an item more prone to fraud, since it's 1 of the hotter items this season.

just be careful and i guess don't wait too long. i really hope you do get your item, but if not, paypal will be able to give your refund back, and your credit card company will be able to do the same. just warn your credit card company be careful to make sure your credit card number wasn't used for other purposes.
