Hi,

I have just joined this forum and think it's great.

I thought my story of how I started on ebay might be of interest (and encouragement) to anyone who is "sitting on the fence" and not sure whether selling on ebay is for them or not.

About 2 years ago I was fed up with my 9 - 5 office job and started thinking about running my own business. I had a slightly wacky business idea, but didn’t know how to get it off the ground.

I booked myself on a short seminar about running an internet business. During that seminar the speaker mentioned ebay. It was just a sentence or two, but he said that ebay might be a good way of testing a business idea or service, and as a result of that short statement here I am today.

Just over 12 months ago I took the plunge and opened an ebay shop to sell my unique personalised products. I had the shop branded from the outset – www.stores.ebay.co.uk/cockywrappers (there is a clue in the name!)
As the orders came in, I then found that I had sufficient money in my paypal account to have a separate website designed to increase sales.
My website www.cockywrappers.com and my shop branding were all designed by someone advertising their services on ebay. As ebay has given me the opportunity to turn my wacky business idea into reality, I do try and buy all the products, services and equipment I need to run my business from ebay.

I still have a lot to learn but I am quite an ebay fan.

Welcome to the AuctionCUT

Your introduction just proves what a great opportunity eBay really is, if your willing to take action and dive in to test your idea. It's one of the most specialist shops I've saw on eBay but I'm willing to bet you get a lot of repeat custom and sales.

Have you yet got to the point where eBay & your website is your only income, or is that where your aiming for?

Hi Mark,

Fingers crossed, 2007 will be the year when I become a full time ebayer.

Never thought you could sell these kind of items on eBay. Good idea though and good luck in 2007.

Many thanks. I have had great fun selling these on ebay and have printed all sorts of things on them from wedding photo's to pictures of music bands. It is surprising what you can fit on such a small area!
