If you had a few billion dollars and never had to work, what would you do with your time? Research those markets.

At the risk of sounding redundant, you find your niche by first exploring what makes you go hmmm...

In other words, what's your passion?

Make lists for the following questions:

  • What hobbies do you have?
  • What things have you always wanted to learn how to do?
  • What type of training do you have (vocational or professional)?
  • What kind of work do you do?
  • What kind of brick & mortar business are in?
  • What things do you like to do (your passion; is it teaching)?
  • What skills do you have?

You get the idea. Use a single looseleaf page for each of these items and start listing and explaining to yourself, what you know about yourself. When you have completed all the lists, let them rest a few days. Come back to them and now try to prioritize the items on each list. Compare the prioritized items on each list and see if you can come up with a general theme of what you might like to do. The higher on your list, the closer you are to your passion. Then you need to use the new information to brainstorm. Eventually you will find yourself, and you will find your niche!

Hi Konan,

Here's a good discussion on how to find a good niche market:

choosing-what-to-sell-before-you-register-on-ebay-t2222.html

It is very important to do a lot of research and not get caught up in the hype.

If you are new on eBay, a good way to get your feet wet without much risk is selling stuff from around the house that you no longer need. This will help you find out what sells well on eBay, come up with a small capital to start buying wholesale lots to resell and gain feedbacks. Feedbacks are important as people rely on them to gauge your reliability and trust-worthiness.

Lastly, this is the perfect time to start selling. Sales are always good during holiday season.

All the best,
Richelle
