Let's say you are trying to sell golf clubs but you are having a hard time selling them because your competition is too strong. What do you do? You can bundle your golf clubs with golf balls, golf training video, or a gold bag.
It doesn't have to be about golf but whatever you're selling make sure you bundle it with other items to make your auction an unique auction. |

This selling technique has been very apparant over the Christmas period with the games consoles - There is not a lot of margin or Unique Selling Point in a plain old PS3, but the margin on games and accessories is huge. A few link sales can turn a slim margin into a killing, as desirability increases.
Another example is in the bicycle trade. A basic mountain bike would retail at £150, a helmet at £15, a set of lights at £10, and a lock at £10. Total RRP £185. The margin on the bike was about £15, but the margins on the accessories was around £7 per item.
When I worked in the trade (for 7 years!) we would shift far more units when they were all bundled together for £169, and although the individual margins were reduced, the increase in sales improved total gross profit. |
