I new to ebay and want to start selling.

I've found a website that offers free Ebooks & selling descriptions

http://www.freewebs.com/freebbee/

I am tempted to try them out but do they actually sell or is it a waste of time?

Any advice or experiences out there

I'm not fan of e-books. They mostly provide some simple suggestions in a pretty extensive way. Hard to read through...
A god way for get exact suggestions about anything are forums. This is my experience.
I've found hosting, online opportunities, directories, instructions - on forums.

Ebooks can sell, but you need to deal in a big enough quanity to make it work for you. Check out this ebay seller

http://stores.ebay.co.uk/PlanetSMS_W0QQ ... fpZ0QQtZkm

who is selling 263 items, most of them for less than £2.00

The only other alterative is to create your own ebook to sel, so you have an exclusive product to offer.

I must say that eBooks are a great way to start selling on eBay.

The trick is to add eBooks as a bonus to other items, e.g. I was selling Playstation Repair eBooks with Playstation Cheat eBooks at the same time.

In effect I was getting two auctions for the price of one - People looking for Cheat eBooks were buying because of Repair eBook "Bonus" and people looking for Repair eBooks were buying because of Cheat eBook "Bonus".

I also sold a number of second hand Playstation Two games with those two eBooks as bonuses. As a consequence I sold the games for a lot more than I had bought them for - substantially more.

Trying to pair things up is the trick.........

Yes, they can sell.

I've written two eBooks that I sell on eBay. These are the penny books that are all over the place. I list them with a "buy it now" price of $24.97 and $29.97 and have probably around a 30% buy rate.

in my experience the ebook market is too flooded to get involved in. if you're going to make money from selling ebooks it will have to be pretty damn good.

One strategy for selling ebooks is to purchase "Private Label Rights" ebooks. These ebooks can be customized so that they are not exactly the same as everything else on the market.

You can add additional content, move content around, change the title, etc. You really get creative control over the final product. The key is differentiation.

If you have the same ebook as 200 other sellers, then it simply becomes a game of "who has the lowest price?" This is the biggest mistake that I see eBay sellers make when trying to sell ebooks on eBay. They go into saturated markets with the exact same product as everyone else.

But once you bring a fresh, new product to the market, you can charge a higher price - and you'll get it! And you'll sell more than the others as well.

Another strategy is to combine related ebooks into packages. This can increase the selling price and also make your listing stand out in the market.

I have never actually bought, sold, or written my own e-book so I can't talk about my own experience. :? I read a really interesting article several months ago about breaking into this market, and how to be a successful e-book author. One of the most popular selling books of last summer was a book about building sandcastles. Seriously. I personally wouldn't buy a book about building sandcastles, but apparently the content was so unique and well written that people couldn't get enough of it. I think if you have a unique topic and a well written e-book, you should do a-ok.

I sold hundreds of ebooks when I was starting. My earnings from ebook selling were not enough to put food on the table though. I just used it to jumpstart my eBay business. I got hundreds of feedbacks from selling relatively cheap ebooks.

I'm not selling ebooks anymore. It's too tiring.

Is anybody selling ebooks (that they wrote) to generate traffic to their website, where they offer a service? I've heard this is a good strategy, but would like feedback from others who have done it. Thanks!

Hi Kristine,

I use an ebook I wrote to promote an affiliate program. I don't sell it on eBay - but give it away FREE. However, I could just as easily edit the links within the ebook so they point towards a website & then try to sell anything, whether it be a service or product.

There is something to be said, though for selling an ebook rather than giving it away. If the ebook is sold, readers will have a higher perceived value of it so are more likely to act on the information, rather than a free one.

I sell eBooks on eBay - I use eBay as cheap advertising to drive traffic to my other projects.

As Mark says, PlanetSMS is hugely successful ( http://stores.ebay.co.uk/Plane.....fpZ0QQtZkm ) He is a friend of mine and a bit of a mentor -- he makes his living out of information and eBay and shows others how to do the same (see my ad in ad section)

The trick is, to write your own eBooks, that's where the money is made, from all the backend sales.

eBooks do sell but are hard to sell unless they are rare due to competition and prices.
