Thats the only type of product i sell, and yes they can make you a very lot of money.

Like the post above said you need to list as many eBooks as you can for great exposure and then link each auction to each other...

It comes down to market saturation.

If you have a unique ebook and own the sole rights, then perhaps.

Other than that everyone is already competing and apart from using ebooks as a means of driving traffic to your site... good luck...

I must say that e books are a great way to start selling on eBay and many other shopping sites like silkfair, craiglist etc.

i've also wondered about selling ebooks online and on ebay.

from the research i've done, you really need to find a good topic and write your own. There are so many on 'making millions online' and things like that that you need to find a topic people are really interested in that doesn't have heaps of competition.

Think of something that people want like relationship advice, etc. and that is a great platform to write an ebook and hopefully sell it!

all the above is just taken from much reading that i have done, but that's what i have gathered.

No-one wants to buy ebooks. What they do want to buy is something that'll solve a problem... improve their lives... etc.

Thing is we buy things to get the benefits it gives us. Whether it's an ebook, an electric toothbrush, cinema tickets, airline tickets, cameras, and I could carry on. EVERYTHING. I mean everything we buy is just to give us the benefits.

That's it.

So if someone wants to feel safer at night you could buy...

a personal attack alarm, can of Mace spray, alarm system, hire a body guard, learn self defence, buy an ebook showing how to remain safe or defend yourself.

You see it's the benefit. The product is just what provides that benefit.

So yes ebooks do sell. But remember it's the benefit they want. You just show that your ebook provides that and they will buy.

Think benefit first and then offer your information as the solution.

Here's a solution that I sell on my website. If you want to see this as an example visit http://viralebookads.tripod.com/arttraf.html and you'll see how I'm not selling an ebook. That's the secret.

Yes! e-books are VERY viable but you need to automate it. And now, e-Bay has placed a ban on digitally delivered e-books. On the surface it makes it look harder but what it's REALLY done is clear up the playing field of all the piddly little .99 books just making a feedback grab. Automation is key but now the automation needs to take care of burning, labeling and shipping a CD as well. With every challenge comes opportunity and here's what we've found. We are just getting started with Auction Acrobat and while we're only underway, we've got close friends using it for only a short time with great results! Hope it helps.

You can't sell ebooks on ebay anymore. Ebay doesn't allow that. Too many people were selling 1 cent ebooks, just to skew the ebay feedback system. It was almost like buying cheap feedback.

But every problem is an opportunity in disguise.

See, it was a bit of a market shakeup. The bad apples fell down. Now, there are still lots of people who sell their ebooks - but they sell them on a CD that they actually ship to you, instead of send you via email.

This makes the whole thing a bit more expensive, but again - since people actually get a real, physical CD, that they can touch and hold in their hand, and they get it by mail, they are also willing to pay more.

And since most people who were selling ebooks are out, crying by the site of the road and complaining about how unfair ebay is, some sellers are making a killing by turning ebooks into physical products and shipping them.

But before you set out to CREATE a product, you have to do some market research. See, product creation is not rocket science, everybody can write an ebook. BUT - it's labor intensive, and it will take a lot of time to write and create it.

Now you don't want to invest all that work into creating an ebook that nobody wants to buy.

Somebody said you just have to find a "niche", something that other's aren't selling yet, where there is no competition.

In my opinion that's the wrong approach. By now, the internet has evolved so much - almost every profitable niche is taken. And if there is no competition for a certain market, then it's usually because there is no money to be made in that market.

Competition is good, because it means lots of people are making money in that market. They wouldn't spend their time and money in that market, if they wouldn't make money. You WANT competitive markets, and then you study what your competition does, and you improve on it just a little bit - and that is all it takes. Study them, copy them and improve them.

(When I say copy, I don't mean blatantly copy. That would be breaking the law. And that would be bad karma. You don't want that. And you don't need to. But you can use the ideas and systems they have, and include it into your own product and marketing funnel).

There is a lot too it, but it is absolutely possible if you sit down a couple of days and do your due diligence.

Let me know what you're not clear about, and I'll be glad to help you out if I can.

Ebooks are free to sell because they are worthless. Ebooks are usually written in about 1-2 hours and they are hard to read because they contain scattered ideas. People who purchase them are suckers (don't mean to offend anyone who has purchased an ebook, but think about it; you are paying for a product that is free for anyone willing to waste there time reading them) and even the suckers are not willing to pay any more than a couple dollars total for them, so every sell you make on Ebay with them will only turn a couple of pennies in profit; thanks to the high Ebay fees. I would suggest going down to your local capital building and getting a business licensce, and find a wholesaler to get some real products. Just hit me up and I may be able to put you on some of my suppliers, but you will have to have a business license and a tax ID number. Why am I being so nice to you, well because I'm sick of Ebay and to be honest no one may be able to make any money there in the next year or so.

@gogoguy: you're right that ebooks are worthless 99% of the time, specially what was being sold on ebay - and specially the ones that were put together in 1-2 days, let alone hours.

AND THEN there is that 1% of really valuable ebooks that contain good information.

I'm sure you agree with me that "real" books are worth more than the paper, & ink - in most cases. What adds that value? It's information.

If you can give someone information how to repair their own bicycle in 30 minutes, and you sell that ebook for $10, then that information has a value higher than $10 to this person, because going to a store and having it fixed there might cost him $50.

Now all the "make money online" ebooks that come with resale rights and promise you overnight riches... or "lose 50 pounds eating chocolate in front of your tv" kind of books... I think we're on the same page there.

Ebay's cost of doing business are still lower than any other place with similar market exposure. Small sellers might have to adjust their strategies, but there will always be new opportunities when the market gets shaken up.

Mark wrote:Ebooks can sell, but you need to deal in a big enough quanity to make it work for you. Check out this ebay seller

http://stores.ebay.co.uk/PlanetSMS_W0QQ ... fpZ0QQtZkm

who is selling 263 items, most of them for less than £2.00

The only other alterative is to create your own ebook to sel, so you have an exclusive product to offer.

Hi Mark,

This eBay powerseller is actually my mentor, he taught me how to actually create my own products and how to sell them in different ways on the net, his name is John Thornhill, and trust me guys he`s a success building machine, and the money is not made from the eBooks its the back end, the eBooks provide the traffic to higher ticket items :!:

Great post....John.

e-books are not just the how to get rich stuff we so often see on the net. There are so many categories or kinds from which you can still make a decent source of income with. If you are new to selling e-books, here something to help you out:
