Just wanted to make all of you aware that there is a seller on ebay who is currently winning items, leaving positive feedback and then roughly 3 months later doing a chargeback through her CC. She has done this to at least 4 individuals so far. What is interesting is that by looking at her feedback you could never tell because eBay doesn't allow the sellers to change their initial rating. She also seems to be waiting long enough that delivery confirms may be lost or thrown away. I only got burned for about $30 but I know others have lost hundreds. Here is the scammers info

Username: t1nkerbell101

Avoid at all costs.

How do you know she's done it to others?

Here are the other three. Included are their comments and the transaction # so anyone interested can actually look them up. I contacted one of the other burnt sellers and he informed me that she used the scam on about $200 in gaming equipment and PayPal was unable to stop the chargeback.

I've seen this lots before... some people get away with thousands of dollars before they are flagged/caught. Good catch.

Yeah but she is still an active member on eBay and PayPal won't refund my money. So she hasn't quite been caught ......yet.

That's a flaw with the feedback system - once you say something positive, then the seller/buyer can do anything and you can't change it. Maybe it would be better if you could amend it.

I'm just getting hit with this same thing (chargebacks) in the past day or so. The item was already shipped (only $10) and a day later get an email saying they are trying to reverse payment. The feedback system doesn't allow sellers to leave negatives for buyers so we are left hanging.

I've been victimized by t1nkerbell101 as well: www atariage com /forums/index.php?showtopic=132039 (my full post)

Since the FB was private at the time of the auction, and the buyer had no recent negs i didn't think there was a problem. Beside searching 100's bidder a month for possible scammer gets tedious.

The bidder is now NARU but she may have registered a new account and back on eBay scamming more people.

Update:
We are pleased to inform you that we have successfully disputed chargeback
case #PP-xxx-xxx-xxx. The buyer's card issuer has decided in your favor
and within seven days you will receive reimbursement for $72.14 USD.

It is PayPal's standard practice to dispute wrongful chargebacks. One of
the benefits of using PayPal is that our team of chargeback specialists
will gather the necessary information from you and work with the credit
card company until the chargeback is resolved.

We appreciate your prompt response to our request for information about
this transaction.

Think T1nkerbell101 is now in trouble. Obviously CC saw the pattern of the scam and decided to return the money to us sellers. Now to keep an eye on news (google news search) to see if her name comes up for fraud charges.

Paypal has so many problems that this is a common occurance! Paypal leaves the scammed to try and retrieve the money themselves!

Just a heads up, I just checked to see if this scammer is still around, and t1nkerbell101 got invalid user ID. So either it had been changed recently or eBay deleted the account. Do watch for the name and address:

Thank you for the warning.

However, as a buyer in an online auctions you have an Item Buying Receiving Rights. If the seller made a mistake in sending out the incorrect item, do you know what to do? What if the item you bought was lost in the mail? Regardless of the validity of the seller’s or shipper’s reason, the fact remains that you paid good money for your purchase. This means you have the right to demand for a replacement or a refund. It is important that you know your rights when you buy items online.

But do not use this right to scam auction sellers!
