I'm a web developer and recently I made an eBay mashup that shows all the auctions about to end within a short distance of a given postcode. The idea is that you could then arrange collection with the seller and save on postage. Especially good for bulky things like bikes, vacuum cleaners etc.

"eBay Local" - http://ebay.omani.ac/local/UK/

Another feature finds auctions in a given category (or relevant to a keyword) that are just about to end. It's surprising how many good items end with no bids, so it's a good opportunity to grab a bargain!
