I've been stupid enough to bid on, and win, one of the cheap chinese mp3 players, and 2 hours after winning the cheeky begger has decided it needs compulsary postage insurance of £5 that wasn't in the origional sale details at all! I'm sure it can't be legal with all the laws saying that you have the right to pay the advertised price etc, although he isnt in this country so no idea.. it's only a fiver but tis just a pain more than anything when i didnt expect to be paying it! guess i'll learn my lesson..

The massive fee of £4.99 plus £11.99 postage, it went for the starting price so i expect he'll have been abit hacked off that it didnt go for as much as he liked so tried to add a tad on.. It's deciding whether or not my feedback is worth a fiver, which in all fairness it probably is..

I've bought a few things from buyers registered in China, with the same suituation the postage being higher than the final price of the auction.

Like you mention, if you didn't pay it probably would have resulted in a neg for you. You might want to remember this, when leaving him feedback ;-)

I'd have told them where to go & returned a negative if they left one for me.

You have to be really careful of the chinese sellers. I've been tempted by some guitar auctions, and the shipping was out of this world. The auctions can be quite funny to read though.

..I bought an mp4 4Gb player from Hong Kong seller.

I paid the insurance, which came as a surprise at the check out stage of paying.

However, the total price was only £28.00, for something which would have cost me 3 times as much in a UK shop.
It came fast enough and works fine.
