I recently purchased an Ipod Nano on ebay, but after much criticism of ebay and the pitfalls surrounding it, I checked this guy's feedback even down to whether they were from sellers or buyers and satisfied myself that I was making an ok choice even with a little hesitation.

I paid $172 + PP for the Ipod by paypal, and after a week of waiting I went back to the Ebay site to check what date it completed to work out how long it would be. At this stage the seller was no longer registered, so I went to Paypal and got his email address and emailed him, at that time I also filed a claim/dispute as he was no longer registered with ebay. He sent a lovely email to me, stating that the Ipod was sent on 25th November so I should receive it shortly and can I please cancel the dispute once it arrives.

Well it arrived yesterday, and is so not an IPOD! it's a complete fake, looks like an Ipod until you inspect further. Doesn't work properly, is virtually unusable. The serial number on the box doesn't match the serial number on the Ipod.

It's not even the money that has got to me, it's the fact that these scumbags get away with it and he's probably opened up another account on there with a different name and is getting away iwth it time and time again. Anyway if anybody would like his paypal name, ebay name, or email address so they can doublecheck feel free to message me. But buyers beware!!!

Cheers
Denise

that sounds horrible. i hope you're able to get your money back and do something about this.

shows that no matter what, online buyers must be extremely careful when they buy things. do your research on the sellers, especially if the items may be a high-fraud item. even though you did your homework and the seller seemed good, this totally sucks. i wonder how many more others he's scammed.

Completely, the fact that this person will probably have just set up a new Ebay ID and will be scamming others, is the bit that really p's me off.

Oh well we live and learn

Dang you got it bad. I just had that happen to me today. I bought an itouch for $170 from this seller and it came out to be a cheap mp4 player that costs below $50. I wonder if there's a way we can get our money back. I did exactly what you did and looked at his feedback and all that stuff until the tracking number he gave me was from china. I knew it was going to come from a cheap A$$ place.

Yeah, you have to really be careful about foreign sellers, I had a similar thing happen to me before.

That seems to be a common occurance. eBay is filled with fakes and it takes time and a legit complaint for the seller to be punished. eBay needs to do som serious reconstruction on their image.
