Auctions vs. Buy It Now

What's selling on eBay at the moment, have you discovered any profitable dropshippers or wholesalers?

Which one do you use most? Why?

That all depends on what it is, and how badly I want the item.

If it is something expensive, I'll wait it out. If it is a relatively inexpensive item, I'll go for it. If it is a gift, and is time sensitive, I'll go for it, buy it now.

I'm normally willing to pay a premium if I need an item in a hurry & if Buy It Now is available. It can work both ways though, I've used Buy It Now and got an item cheaper than similar items have been going for in auction format.

I always go for the buy it now function.
It feels safer, and I like to get things DONE!

From looking at how I buy items I have different strategies for listing.

If I am unsure of the value, or it is one of the only few available on eBay I will list on an auction. I will also list a few loss leader featured auctions to gain traffic to other listings.

For impulse buy products I am starting to use BIN, from looking at similar listings of mainstream products, buyers will tend to search for that item specifically and purposefully, and are less likely to want to wait for anything up to 12-14 days for it to end, pay, and arrive with them.

Also look at your product line that you are selling and consider if it is the type of item that will sell at a fixed price that you would be happy to accept. Offering 10 multiple item listings with 5 available on each, would be more cost effective and provide a faster return rate than listing 50 individual listings.

I use the buy it now because I don't like to wait to get the item. I usually offer it as well because I think a lot of people are about immediate gratification.

I seem to sell more items when I auction items vs buy it now.
