Hey there. I use ebay.com and even though there are a ton of sellers, I've consistently made money selling a variety of things. I even got my mom into eBay and she has been doing well selling a variety of things too.
There's been a lot of good advice on this thread, and I have to agree that, in a nut shell, figuring out some things you want to sell, researching until you find a viable product and sticking with it will make the difference.

| there is too much of a market online to ever have "too many" people selling on ebay, it's almost unthinkable. |
