Talking to a few new members to eBay this week, they see nothing wrong with bidding on their own items or asking a friend, relative or colleague to bid on the item for you in order to push up the price.

Is this common for the majority of eBay members to think this? Have you EVER been involved in shill bidding?

As always, the poll is completely anonymous so please vote honestly.

To raise up bidding on an item I consider unethical. If you want a better price on an auction item maybe a person should put a reserve price. Otherwise leave it alone and let people bid.

Ethics have just about gone out the window in America and it's a shame. No wonder everyone is worried about getting scammed. This is no different.

No, I have never bid on my own products to raise the prices nor have I had anyone else do so either.

Hi Kattastrophy,

Welcome to the forum and thanks for your opinion. I agree, if you set up your auctions & overall strategy correctly in the first place there would never be any need to even consider this.

I know sellers who frequently bid on their own auctions to drive up the price.
