As great as ebay is at driving traffic for whatever you are selling their listing fees, gallery fees, store fees, final value fee will take a bite out of your buck eventually. Ebay is probably one of the best ways you can drive traffic quickly today, its by far the dominant auction site with the most buyers and sellers. They are almost without competiton, or any worthy competition at least.

But here are some other auction sites if you got the time to test around. They probably won't generate nearly as much traffic as ebay, but their fees will be way lower. Such as like Ubid which only charges final value fee i think so you don't got anything to lose unless you sell something. You probably get 50 sales or so to 1 at auction sites like Ubid but hey a sales a sale and if you got the time for it, give it a try. You got notthing to lose anyways and maybe one day ebay will have a worthy competitor.

Ubid.com
AuctionMonkey.com
AuctionQuest.com
Webidz.com
Biddersnsellers.com
HiBidder.com
PlunderHere.com
DealGates.com

there are many alternatives you can try free classified posting online like craigslist, locanto or gumtree those are free classified ads online that allows you to post your ads for your products or services you offered, it also has different category to choose from or you can find any free actions site in google.

Good story about how to make money with ebay alternatives. I know we need a good alternative very badly.. Well none of the site has it in it to challenge ebay.. I think we must find an alternative worth its salt.

Ebay can be a waste of time sometimes and there is too much rigmarole to get through especially when dealing with certain sellers. With that being said I am addicted to http://www.governmentauctions.org They have thousands of items available INCLUDING cars and houses. The items are presented in a very matter of fact way and you can localize your search easily. I would suggest checking it out. Nothing beats government surplus or seized merch!

Ebay is the king and they know it ,which is why they operate dictotorial policies. Any challenger to ebay has got to get the all important traffic that is needed before sellers will join. It's a classic catch 22 situation, new sites need sellers to list their items on to attract buyers, but sellers won't list unless there is some traffic on the site. One day someone will crack it and an alternative to ebay will emerge, until then though, ebay is the biggest player in town.

Although it's not strictly an auction site, I have been selling hand dyed wool on eCrater for 1 1/2 years and I am thrilled. The site is totally free! Sales are good -- I will triple my sales this year over last. But this doesn't just happen. It takes some work, and some SEO. There is not the traffic flow that eBay has, but I have a free storefront, and I can be found on page one of a Google search now, which has greatly increased my business. A search on 'hand dyed wool' will show my site,

Gone are the days of hanging out your shingle and waiting for business to come. There was a heyday like that on eBay, but even that is gone, when there are 5,000 results for a search on an item. Competition is fierce and one has to work to get their name out there, as with any business. I have done the work, and I am happy to have my free store at eCrater.

I also have an article on my blog about doing SEO for beginners, and this was what did the trick for me. I am as busy as I want to be on my eCrater site. To see my article:

We all deserve a break for our hard work!
