Today, eBay have announced a price rise for shop inventory, using the featured plus & mobile phone with contracts.
Featured plus in some of the most popular categories has rise from £9.95 to £19.95 & listing shop inventory now costs more for higher priced items.
eBay also claim in their email, notifiying users about the changes:
"We recognise that these changes will impact many of you and will mean that you'll need to make adjustments to ensure that you can take advantage of these new circumstances. The changes we have announced today have not been entered into lightly; we have taken time and effort to ensure that we are making the right decisions to ensure the long term health and vibrancy of the eBay marketplace. We believe that these changes are vital to ensure that the thousands of sellers who rely on eBay for a living or a significant second income can continue to prosper.
We know that as a seller you have a choice of outlets through which to sell your products. We appreciate that you choose eBay."

How can ebay justify a rise of 10.00 for feature plus listings. I use this commonly to drive traffic to my shop inventory, I was reading on auctionbytes how some shop sellers are getting ready to close due to this rise.
It also applyies to other ebay sites, not just ebay.co.uk so will effect users worldwide. Profits must be down at ebay for them to increase by this much. |

| though i am not an ebay seller but the implication on the above post seems unlikely. This of course will bring a change in the industry. First at ebay side, trying to change things without a mass seller convention on this change will just lead to shifting seller choice of site. And on the sellers side, a cent of increase in listing affect much in terms of business, becuase business wise even a single cent is important. |

| The fee increase in annoying but I am not a power seller. There seems to be promotions like 10 cent listing days every few weeks so if I have something to sell, I am still going to wait for a "sale". |

| How can a huge company with Billions of dollars worth of profits possibly justify such a big price hike? It just doesn't make sense and will drive users away. |

Where to though? There still is no real alterative to eBay, despite thousands of smaller auction sites no ones competing head on with eBay |
