Hi
I run an alternative to Ebay auction site, the site has been up and running about 2 months and is starting to take off.
There are two types of membership on the site:
non subscribed - 25p to list, pay for enhancements such as bold type etc.. and no success fee if sells.
Subscribed membership - subscribed members get 100% off all site fees.
Both non subscribed and subscribed members get a free member store.
There are various different subscription durations available ranging from £5 for 90 days all inclusive to £25 for lifetime all inclusive.
The idea behind the site is to offer a second market place to those that sell alot of products at online auction and can't afford to pay £100s a month for Ebay fees.
You can visit the site at bid5.co.uk
Its free to register, and basic listings are free, subscription is totally optional.

The site was recieving approx 50 unique visits per day from basic search engine submission and entry in the Yahoo directory.
However after alot of SEO work have gained 1st page position in Google for:
"free auction"
"free online auction"
"free online auctions"
"online auction house"
and 2nd page for :
"online auction"
I have also added a regular Froogle feed (all items with a buy-it-now price are submitted to Froogle and searchable in Froogle) - the more auctions posted the responsive this will be.
I have also added a 3 x per day feed to bidhopper.com.
There is also a feed to Bidfind.com
Googlebase is also fed by the Froogle feed.
The site is in the Google Sitemaps program and fully indexed, each auction item is included seperatly in Googles indexing of the site.
The site recieves 100% relevancy for all meta tags and page content when using widexl.com meta tag tester.
There will also soon be a Google Adwords advertising program.
With the new Google positions and extra cross promo plus the new Adwords campaign I'm expecting in the next week or so alot more traffic. |
