In order to list a buy it now on a new ebay name, i purchased a coupke of 1p ebooks to get the necessary stars, but I noticed there are thousands of 1p listings.

How do people make anything from these, or are they simply for feedback bulking purposes?

I have received a semi-spam email from one of the sellers since completing the deal, but it seems an expensive and pointless way of building a mailing list?

That's it. It's also a quick and easy way to become a powerseller. One of the qualifications is to Sell on average a minimum of £750 (or the exchange rate equivalent) or 100 items per month, for three consecutive months. In order to qualify you need to sell at least 4 items per month.

100 ebooks monthly at 1p each is the easy way.

how much is it likely to cost for listing 1000x BIN at 1p? And are the FVF & paypal fees still applicable?

If the Gross revenue is £10, how much do the fees total?

As mentioned they can be used to generate feedback (potential violation in eBay's eyes), obtain powerseller status (again a dangerous road), but there are a couple of other benefits.
They can be used to drive traffic to your other auctions (these show up during checkout) and you can mention them in your "Thanks for your payment" email.
They can also be used to generate a mailing list to market other related (higher priced) products.
Another option is what is included in the ebook. There can be affiliate links, ads for additional products, or offers to upgrade the book to have resale rights, etc.

There's lots that can be done with the penny auction.

Selling 1p eBooks are very cheap but here's a couple of tips to make it cheaper.

1. don't list a quantity of 1000 instead list a quantity of 999 and enjoy a 10p saving.

2. list your 1p ebooks on ebay.com instead of ebay.co.uk. not only do you get extra features like "private listing" and "digital delivery" but it's cheaper than listing on ebay.co.uk. strange but true.

Ebay.com takes care of digital delivery. Other ebay sites are to follow shortly.

You can make a lot of money selling 1p eBooks...

Think about this:

You create your 4-5 page report and add affiliate links and website links. You sell this for 1p on eBay. You sell a lot of copies each day therefore many people will have your eBook and click your affiliate links.

Also, as soon as they buy the 1p report, you should send them an automatic email (using My Digital Dispatch) telling them where to download the product. They go to your website to download their purchase. On the download page you include adsense, links to aff products, links to your other higher priced products and an opt-in form.

So you could turn a 1p sale into a £20-£30 sale or more or a lifetime customer who you can consistently market to.

If you are buying a 1p auction just to get feedback. Sometimes the ones that already have thousands of points already dont really care much or are too busy to give you your feedback..

Buy from those who need the feedback and will give you one too.

I'm speaking from experiance. Not much $$$ loss but its nerve wracking when you give the feedback and have to begg for yours.

That's wierd. When I sell 1p auctions, I just run my feedback program, it leaves feedback for all who have left me positive. I think I got it from merlin software or something.
